Angelo Palazzolo Memorial Scholarships Awarded

Angelo Palazzolo '70 was a supportive St. Pius X alumnus, giving generously to the School throughout his life. Ultimately he gave a large cash gift to the general scholarship fund of the School. His family also dedicated a significant portion of his estate to create the Angelo Palazzolo Memorial Fund, a perpetual scholarship administered by the St. Pius X Foundation. It was Angelo’s family’s wish that the scholarship recipient be an SPX student whose history and background reflect Angelo’s own: the child of a middle class family sacrificing to provide a Catholic education. The Angelo Palazzolo Memorial Scholarship has been awarded annually each spring since 2005. Vincent Palazzolo, Angelo’s brother and Pat Svrcek, Treasurer of the SPX Foundation, were on hand Monday, May 20 for the announcement.

Knights of Columbus Scholarship Winners Selected

In 2011, the Knights of Columbus Council 2917 established a scholarship program for eligible St. Pius X juniors. The scholarships are awarded for the recipients’ senior year. SPX would like to thank the Council for their generous support of Catholic secondary education. Three representatives from the KofC Council 2917 were on hand Monday, May 20, to announce the winners - Mr. James Urbanovsky, Grand Knight of Council 2917, Mr. Doug Wendt, Trustee and Chairman of the Casino Night event that supports these scholarships, and Mr. Benny Okruhlik, Financial Secretary.

The five recipients for the 2013 Knights’ of Columbus scholarship as selected by the Council are:

Underclass Awards Announced

On the morning of Moday, May 20, St. Pius X recognized many students for their outstanding academic achievement and attendance over the past year. Teachers were asked to recognize the top student in their courses for excellence. Many teachers also chose to recognize outstanding effort, improvement and participation. The awards reflect effort, ability and motivation. Congratulations to all who have achieved so well this year!

St. Pius X Star Stewart Has Big Decision to Make

As the St. Pius X baseball team continues its quest for another state title, more eyes than those of the usual Panther faithful will be watching. Starting pitcher Kohl Stewart was one of the stars in last week’s 10-0 shutout of Ft. Worth Nolan and was the winning pitcher with nine K's against St. Thomas Monday. Stewart, a dual-sport star, has already committed to play football at Texas A&M. But he is being equally pursued by Major League Baseball scouts. While many are looking ahead to the MLB draft, Kohl is focused on one thing—winning another baseball state championship for SPX. View the full story by KHOU here.

St. Pius X High School is happy to inform you that our 2011-2012 Annual Report is available online and can be found here.

Our Annual Report is produced each year to acknowledge the generous gifts of our parents, alumni, benefactors and friends, and to disclose our financial summary following each fiscal year.

The Office of Advancement of St. Pius X publishes the Annual Report. The report lists gifts made between August 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012, the School’s fiscal year. In compiling this report, we have made every effort to ensure these listings are accurate and complete.
